 At NRPD, we are committed to promoting collaboration and advancing the responsible use of IPM Detection Dog Teams while upholding our dedication to environmental stewardship. Through ongoing innovation in pest management, we aim to minimize harm to non-target species, protect ecosystems, and safeguard human health. Our core focus is enhancing integrated pest management practices by providing expert detection dog services that improve pest control methods and reduce the reliance on pesticides.

We believe in working with dogs using a trust-based, trauma-informed approach that prioritizes consent and choice.  Our goal is to provide unwavering operational support that nurtures training philosophies focused on cooperative relationships, positive reinforcement, and compassionate leadership.

 NRPD began with a mission to rehome rescue dogs into well-suited working homes while providing dog behavior insights to pet owners. From these early beginnings, our focus shifted toward the extraordinary potential of detection dogs, particularly in conservation and pest management.

Our founder, Mark Vick, brings a wealth of experience to NRPD. After eight years in the Navy as a Cryptologic Technician and Law Enforcement Specialist, Mark transitioned to a career in wildlife conservation. As a Conservation Police Officer with the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources, he initiated the department's canine program, which focused on wildlife detection. Since launching NRPD, we have become a trusted integrated pest management (IPM) community leader. Our detection dogs have been trained and deployed across various projects, from structural pest control to conservation initiatives. Over the past few years, NRPD has conducted residential and commercial searches focused on rodent detection, and we continue to expand our impact through collaboration with pest management and environmental conservation experts.
